About banana picking jobs
Banana farm jobs across Australia run year-round, which makes them one of the few crops you can find any month. The work is in Far North Queensland, Carnarvon and Coffs Harbour.
Where the work is
Far North Queensland is the heart of it, around Tully, Innisfail, Mareeba and the Atherton Tablelands. Carnarvon in WA and Coffs Harbour in New South Wales also grow bananas.
The work
Jobs split into field work (cutting and carrying bunches, known as humping) and packing shed work (washing, grading and boxing). Field work is heavy. The pay is usually hourly or piece rate.
Most regional farm work counts toward your 88 days. Check the rules in our 88 days guide.
